I'm totally overwhelmed by choices and have no idea what is actually good and fit for long distance running. I would like to step up my training and prepare for running a half marathon by next year so I really need some proper running shoes. I would really appreciate some recommendations or where to start? And what to look for? Bonus if they're not an extortionate price! Thank you
I've got the Brooks Adrenaline too, and I love them! Picked mine up after trying a bunch at a local running store. Honestly, like others have mentioned, it's best to go to a running store and test a few pairs.
Putting in my recc list here, thing is shoes mould different to different feet so honestly you won't really get anywhere by specific reccs. Look for good reviews on the brands in general then rifle through the catalogues.
Can you find a legit running store? It really does matter if the shoe is right for you. I bought shoe at Dicks on my own that ended up being completely wrong.

the best starting point is honestly a good local running store, if you have one nearby. they can watch you run on a treadmill for a bit and see what your feet are doing. this made a huge difference for me when i started training for my first half. i used to just grab whatever looked cool, and i kept getting these weird knee aches after about 5-6 miles. turns out i was overpronating a lot and needed somthing with more stability. the store folks hooked me up with a pair that really helped. it's worth it for the peace of mind, even if you don't buy from them right away. you can at least get an idea of what type of shoe works for you and then look for deals online or a slightly older model.
